The unusual 8 1/4 inch gauge elevated Bankside Miniature Railway near Eastleigh first opened in 1977. The track is about 300 yards long with a balloon loop returning trains to the station where the whole train, locomotive and carriages, is then turned on a large turntable at the end of each journey.
