Peterborough SME  will be in Ferry Meadows on the day of our AGM with their 5″ portable track giving rides to the public at a very reasonable cost, as a society they lost their home at Thorpe Hall in 2012, they had been on the same site for around 30 years.
At the moment they are still looking for a new secure home.

Please make a note in your diary and lets make this year’s AGM the best yet, we normally enjoy good weather in Peterborough in April so fingers crossed.

If you have any question about or any ideas for things to do at the AGM please send an email to the secretary or webmaster.

There will be free travel for members on FMR throughout the day with a pass from the secretary on the day of the AGM, that’s worth more than your membership alone! Why not come along and meet our members? You can become a member and enjoy free travel for the whole day.

Places to stay and things to do

There is a large Caravan Club site (open to non members) so if you fancy bringing the family for the weekend there is plenty to do, you can take a Segway tour around the park or take a leisurely ride on a trip boat, you can even Walk on Water, if you have a bicycle bring it along, there are miles and miles of traffic free cycling around Nene Park, and if golf is your thing then bring the clubs we have a Pitch and Put, two 18 hole pay and play courses and a new 23 bay Driving range, Nene Park Golf. There is a large Cafe next to the railway and around the park loads of BBQ stands that you can use for free, just bring your own food and charcoal, as well as Ferry Meadows MR we have the Nene Valley Steam Railway running through the park, Peterborough City centre shopping is only 5 minutes away, a lovely city centre with a beautiful Catherdral, there is so much to do here you will need more than a day.

If you are not into caravans there is a Premier Inn at the entrance to the park or a Marriott Hotel next to Peterborough Show Ground, both are only a ten minute walk from the AGM venue, and there is a Travelodge on the A1 about 10 minutes drive from Nene park.

If you have a 10 1/4” locomotive and fancy running it at Ferry Meadows during the AGM weekend please get in touch with Dave Coging at FMR, there is have room to shed several locos. The usual safety rules will apply, you will need to have a current boiler certificate for steamers and you must be able to connect to the braking systems, it would be a good idea if visiting locos could arrange to be there some time before the weekend to try out both the track and the braking systems, as well as getting to know the road etc.
